Amazing fact: after they go to sea in the fall, puffins do not see land again for several months. As young puffin are not of sexual maturity, they do not come to land for about 4 years after they fledge.
This video showcases the humpback whales that visited the Pouch Cove shores in July '20. All photos were taken from viewing sights along the side of the main road in our community. Whales are most commonly seen in Newfoundland waters between July and September.

Feel the excitement when the capelin roll ashore on our local beached during the annual capelin roll. This occurrence is an annual event, usually in July, which sees a huge number of capelin come ashore to spawn. Most capelin die on the rocks; others get eaten by whales, other sea mammals, and sea birds; whereas others get collected by hand, bucket, fishing net, or whatever means possible by people looking to catch a few for a fish fry or with which to fertilize their lawns
